چکیده

We present a total of 57 days of contiguous, high-cadence photometry (14 days in 2004 and 43 in 2005) of the star BD+18 4914 obtained with the MOST 1 satellite. We detect 16 frequencies down to a signal-to-noise of 3.6 (amplitude ∼ 0.5 mmag). Six of these are less than 3 cycles/day, and the other ten are between 7 and 16 cycles/day. We intrepret the low frequencies as g-mode γ Doradus-type pulsations and the others as δ Scuti-type p-modes, making BD+18 4914 one of the few known hybrid pulsators of its class. If the g-mode pulsations are high-overtone non-radial modes with identical low degree ℓ, we can assign a unique mode classification of n={12, 20, 21, 22, 31, 38} based on the frequency ratio method.

Photometric Study of Variable Stars in the Open Cluster NGC

We report the discovery of 19 variable stars and two blue–stragglers in the field of the open cluster NGC 6866. Three of the variable stars we classify as δ Sct, two, as γ Dor, four, as W UMa, two, as ellipsoidal variables, and one, as an eclipsing binary. Seven stars show irregular variability. Two of the pulsators, a δ Sct star NGC 6866-29 and a γ Dor star NGC 6866-21, are multiperiodic. From...

Confirmation of simultaneous p and g mode excitation in HD 8801 and γ Peg from time-resolved multicolour photometry of six candidate ”hybrid” pulsators

We carried out a multi-colour time-series photometric study of six stars claimed as ”hybrid” p and g mode pulsators in the literature. γ Peg was confirmed to show short-period oscillations of the β Cep type and simultaneous long-period pulsations typical of Slowly Pulsating B (SPB) stars. From the measured amplitude ratios in the Strömgren uvy passbands, the stronger of the two short period pul...

Driving and damping mechanisms in hybrid pressure-gravity modes pulsators

Abstract. We study the energetic aspects of hybrid pressure-gravity modes pulsations. The case of hybrid β Cephei-SPB pulsators is considered with special attention. In addition to the already known sensitivity of the driving mechanism to the heavy elements mixture (mainly the iron abundance), we show that the characteristics of the propagation and evanescent regions play also a major role, det...

The Study of Δ Sct Stars in the Transition Era from Ground–based to Space Photometry

The different research teams involved in the study of δ Sct stars have slightly changed their strategy in the past years. The observational effort to secure worldwide coverage of case studies is continued, but the specifications become more severe, especially about target characterization and frequency resolution. After the successful launch of the Canadian satellite MOST, which will be the pio...

Close-up of primary and secondary asteroseismic CoRoT targets and the ground-based follow-up observations

To optimise the science results of the asteroseismic part of the CoRoT satellite mission a complementary simultaneous ground-based observational campaign is organised for selected CoRoT targets. The observations include both high-resolution spectroscopic and multicolour photometric data. We present the preliminary results of the analysis of the ground-based observations of three targets. A line...
